
Rumeysa Aydın Atalan
is Executive Assistant to the Counselor in the Education Office at the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C. She is currently pursuing a PhD in History at Istanbul University. Her research and professional interests include higher education, women in education, educational diplomacy, international educational exchange, diversity, equity, and inclusion, women in historiography and Ottoman women’s conversion and apostasy practices. Rumeysa holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Boğaziçi University and a Master of Arts in Late Modern History from Istanbul University, where her thesis was titled “The Projections of Tanzimat in Ottoman Syria: Sectarian Conflicts, Tribes, and Reform Policies.”
