Ibrahim Yazıcı
Ibrahim Yazıcı is the founder and president of the Turkish American Arts Society of New York (TAASNY), an organization dedicated to promoting Turkish culture and the arts in the United States. Through TAASNY, he has led and supported a wide range of cultural initiatives in music, theater, and cinema, building cultural bridges and expanding Turkish arts programming in New York and beyond.
He is also the driving force behind the Karagöz Everywhere Project, an initiative launched in 2016 to expand the reach of traditional Turkish shadow theatre nationally and internationally. Karagöz Shadow Theatre is a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage of humanity (2009) and one of the most important forms of traditional Turkish theatre. The project aims to introduce broader audiences to Karagöz, preserving and sharing the “dream curtain” tradition with communities around the world.
